Pre-sentencing

Interview with Tara, Greg and Don

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Tara: arraigment in district court two over two weeks, during which time I remained incarcerated.I was on house arrest, witha a probationary officer calling 3 times a day to see if i was there, which I was.I was given permission to leave the house to do banking and medical appointments when I requested them
Greg: Well I went to court For child support at domestic relations. I set there for about 3 hours waiting for the hearing to be called. then I was called in to a bdubs didn't want to hear anything I had to say. he just wanted the money I was behind on my support and I can't blame him but I did not have it.
Don: It was very long and drawn out. A lot of cancelled court dates. it took me 8 months to be sentenced . It seemed every time I was going for sentencing I would get there sit in the holding cell all days and then it would be canceled. it sucks

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Tara: Punched the woman sleeping with my husband in the face.and chased her out of my house down the street. She went screaming that i was tring to kill her, raised big to do, and neighbors called te police. Then satements were taken by all at the station. I was charged there and then
Greg: Since I did not have The money they wanted for my child support they send me the 30 days in Bucks County Community Correctional Facility. David give me the option of trying to come up with the money before placing the order last for the 30 days though. that turned out not to be an option
Don: I was involved in a robbery I made it home afterwards. But I came back out to meet up with the people I did the robbery with. I went to a local bar with one of the boys I was with when we went out the cops were outside waiting

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Tara: The judge told the lawyer to sit down and be quiet. Then he, The Judge) directed all his questions to me directly. The lawyer and Judge then went to an anteroom behind the bench platform, and discussed heaven knows what, without me in attendance,Then they decided to convict me, but send me down to get an ankle bracelet.
Greg: Quitter was extremely stressful you goin in you meet with the DA They ask you how much money you have if you have none that I just received to the hearing You goin for the drugs Marilyn hear anything but how much money you have been okay if you are out of work they don't care if you are injured. they just want a child support.
Don: It was very scary this was my first charge. The judge called me a no good thug. You are just sitting there waiting to see if you are ever going to see the light of day again. I was shackled to other inmates. I just wanted it over with quick.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Tara: wreckless endangerment terroristic threats These were my charges
Greg: My regional charges were contempt of court for failure to pay child support and that is what I was charged with
Don: Armed robbery, Aggravated assault, Conspiracy to arm robbery, Fleeing the seen,
