Pre-sentencing

Interview with Kay

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Kay: You get arrested, then you see a magistrate who then sets bail, if you cannot make bail, you then sit in jail until you go to pretrial hearing to see if your bail is lowered or your released on your own recognanze. If you still cannot be released your case will be bound over to big court and you will wait for trial.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Kay: Yes, They came for another reason,My daughter died in her sleep of a bowel obtruction, and the police seen I had pills lying around in different names, and then did an investigation, and then arrested me 2 months later, once they did there investigation and had everything they needed on me they took me to jail

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Kay: It was pretty simple, It was continued about 12 times actually, I just went in with my lawyer, an we talked to the judge or the DA, and we signed papers and they continued for a couple of months later. Once I finally got in, I took a probation plea and it wasw all said and done

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Kay: Endangering the welfare of a child
