Inmates

Interview with Paul

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Paul: Yes it was very difficult for me first off I'm white and the majority of the inmates are black and they automatically assumed I was a racist I was on a block that only had two white people on it nobody screwed with me though because I kept to myself and minded my own business

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Paul: I had to keep to myself, I didn't tolerate being disrespected there's always one dumbass that thinks there bad and wants to test you, pretty much I stayed in my cell and watched tv during recess as I called it when we were allowed out of the cell I typically was on the phone with my girlfriend or other loved ones

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Paul: Cell mates changed quite often a lot of people are there for stupid stuff and yes you could change cells to be in a cell with an inmate that had time to do cause it sucks having cell mates constantly come in and out time goes faster
