Meals

Interview with Roger

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Roger: The usual three meals a day.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Roger: Ugh it was not very good. The ham salad looked like cat food. The only time the food was good was when I worked in the kitchen and we got to make our own food so we would make better pasta and salad then they served. But on average it was it was bland.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Roger: Breakfast was the best on pancake and French toast days. Ham salad was the worst along with the meat loaf.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Roger: There was stuff you could order on commissary and it actually wasn't too expensive. You could get snacks, soups, tuna, chili, cereal, koolaid, writing supplies. The snacks were better than the actual meals they made.
