Pre-sentencing

Interview with Nate

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Nate: I was in custody while this process took place,in the intake unit where you are crammed in a small cell with a lot of other men,no is happy to be there and fights do break out,you are left there for a long period of time without food and water! It stinks in there and smells like no one has cleaned it in months

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Nate: The police caught me on the street while I was high on drugs,A foot chase was given as I felt they were out to get me and I didn't want to go to jail,when I was caught they started to beat me up until to many people started yelling at them to stop!

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Nate: Court is a long process of being transport from the county jail in a bus with about 50 other men,you get up very early and are feed a childs meal then placed in a holding cell,they bring you out of the holding cell and strip search you and then allow you to get dressed in youre street clothes and then place in another cell,then you are placed on the bus and off to court you go,where you can wait all day to see a judge or not see one(that's called going for a ride)!

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Nate: reckless endangerment! assult on a police officer
