Clothing

Interview with Susan

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Susan: I would a couple pairs of underwear and a couple pairs of socks, both white. Wear sneakers in, so you do not have to buy them. Also, wear a white bra with no underwire, so you can keep the one you have.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Susan: Different securities wore different colors. If you are unsentenced, you where khaki, in medium you where blue and in minimum you wear green. You get issued 2 pairs of pants, 2 smocks and three t shirts. I called them potato sacks. They are quite unflattering and allow for no feminine appeal at all.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Susan: no, everything is exactly the same. I personally thought the older the uniform the better, the material felt aa little softer, but some people liked their clothes to have a crispier look to them.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Susan: From what could tell, clothing was pretty similiar.
