Inmates

Interview with Karina and Taylor

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Karina: No ma'am.
Taylor: no it wasn't difficult at all, i actually still talk to some of them.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Karina: I personally think its my skin color. There were only about 4 people who were Caucasian, and the rest were African American (I am African American). I tried to make the best out of the situation, and stayed to myself.
Taylor: I never had any problems, i don't know why people assume there are fights and all of that, i only witnessed one in during my 48 day stay.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Karina: No. If I had a problem with my cellmate I could have chosen to be in max by myself but no I could not choose otherwise.
Taylor: yes i was able to pick who i wanted my cellmate to be, we changed all the time as inmates would leave.
