Closing Advice

Interview with Seth, Ellen and Isaac

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Seth: not like you think a jail or prison should be if you are going to do a lot of time then get involved with things that you know will help you
Ellen: MAKE SURE YOU HELP THEM WITH CANTEEN SNACKS FOR THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE AND THERMAL WEAR AND SOCKS ARE A MUST BECAUSE THEY KEEP IT SOOOO COLD IN THERE. THATS THE MOST COMFY YOU'LL GET
Isaac: Be there for them. It's the most frustrating thing in the world to have this brand new charge and really be powerless to do anything about it. Anything that can be done to help an inmate's situation usually has to be done by people on the outside. And there are few things that hurt worse than to be in that situation and have your friends or family not accepting your phone calls.

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Seth: stay out of trouble get involved with classes and exercise do your best not to go to jail but if you did then do all you can to keep out of fights
Ellen: DON'T TRUST ANYONE. DON'T SHARE YOUR CANTEEN. DON'T FAVOR PEOPLE BECAUSE IT WILL BACKFIRE. KEEP YOUR MOUTH CLOSED ABOUT YOUR FAMILY AND CRIMINAL CASE BECAUSE THERE ARE INFORMERS IN THERE.
Isaac: Don't think about the time or it will go by very slow. Find something that will occupy your mind and begin working on a plan of action that will keep you from coming back in the future.

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Seth: none
Ellen: FAIRFIELD COUNTY JAIL MANNING JAIL
Isaac: Lexington county, Saluda County, SC Dept of Corrections
