Pre-sentencing

Interview with Kevin

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Kevin: I had two court appointed lawyers that I got rid of. With the 3rd, the judge mandated that I work with them. I dismissed the first two because they didn't want to take the action I wanted them to especially with probably cause issues. I went to trial and was told if I didn't take a plea I would get ten years but I still got ten years anyway.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Kevin: I was arrested on Fderal and state charges for growing over a hundred marijuana plants.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Kevin: I was pretty helpless in there. The courty appointed lawyers didn't seem to want to do any work for me and take on the issues I want to take on. I was told you just shut up or I could end up in ankle bracelets shackled to the table. q

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Kevin: Growing and manufacturing marijuana which was a felony. Also they charged me with a conspiracy even though I was the only one. I was a conspiracy of one.
