Pre-sentencing

Interview with Raymond

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Raymond: I was arrested and never even got to see anyone until I was brought before a camera to plead the case with judge.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Raymond: No. I was arrested in Kileen and put in a holding cell for a day or two then taken over to Bell Count.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Raymond: Never got into a room with judge. Only room I was in had a camera and my court appointed attorney. You get asked how you plea and that was it. This was in the basement of Bell County and meant for guys who weren't going up for a jury trial.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Raymond: I original got arrested for burglary but then that got dropped. When I finally went before the judge, they told me I wrote a hot check and then all I had to do was go pay a $100 dollar fine and I got out.
