Interview with Raymond

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Raymond: Yes Iwa s put uin a roomwith a black guy and he was just a dick to live with. One morning we almost got into it and so I bought the orderly a carton of cig to bump me up on the list to get a private room.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Raymond: I am a pretty big guy and easy going. I faked it through on my size because I have never been in a fight ib ny life . I never really felt threatened except by that one black guy. I got along with everyone elseand If Ididnot think I would just avoid that person.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Raymond: No, Once you get your private room it did not change at all unlesss you got caught doing something you were not suppose to be doing.Oncew you got you private room every one wa pretty cool because they did not want to loose it.
