Leisure Time

Interview with Carlos

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Carlos: An indoor basketball court, filled with smoke and no one played because the gangsters were always in there smoking. Plenty of board games, and drawing materials, not so many books.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Carlos: I believe the gaurd controlled the television to avoid all issues.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Carlos: Not at all, everyone worked out and work itself was physical labor.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Carlos: Daily monday through friday. Not on Sunday or Saturday.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Carlos: I did not partake in the jail services but they are available sundays and wednsdays.
