Inmates

Interview with Shelia

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Shelia: No i didnt find it difficult to get along with the other inmates. I stayed away from jail house gossip. I avoided gang members and troublemakers. I treated the other inmates with respect and was respected in return. I was considerate when it came to using the phone and I didnt mess with anyone else's belongings.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Shelia: To avoid fights with other inmates I minded my buisness and didnt gossip. I kept to myself and stayed away from iinmates I didnt like. I waited my turn for items that I wanted to use and I prayed for all my inmates. Its easy to avoid difficulty with others at this facility for the women because they dont share cells.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Shelia: At Randall County women don't share cells so I had was alone in my cell. Although there were no shared cells new girls arrived everyday so everyday I saw new people.
