Interview with Allan, Clayton and Gabi

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Allan: Brown jumpsuits. You had to have it on any time you left your cell. If you went out to play basketball you could wear orange gym shorts you could buy from commissary for $15-20.
Clayton: jumpsuits orange shorts
Gabi: you cant bring them in but if you wear them in they cant do anything about it, but must be all white or they will be taken away

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Allan: See above.
Clayton: brown jumpsuit
Gabi: when i was first placed in to rappahannock regional jail they gave women a one piece jumpsuit, they took most bras if underwire, or colored so when the women had to use the bathroom they had to be completely naked and the there were male guards that worked in the pods, and they gave you 3 pair of white underwear, no teshirts no socks, it was freezing in there

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Allan: Orange gym shorts, but you have to buy them.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Allan: I have no idea. We never saw the women. I think they wore jumpsuits, which might have been a different color.
Gabi: between oct 2007 and february 2009 the uniforms were standard for both sexes. then in 2009 they changed uniforms to 2 pieces it made it easier for the women
