Leisure Time

Interview with Eric, Bonnie, Jerome, Big Kim and Josh

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Eric: None!
Bonnie: Chapel. Books. Exercise.
Jerome: TV, BOOKS
Big Kim: plan on spending a lot of time bemoaning your fate, worrying, and or getting real and making positive changes for the future..
Josh: aply for a trustee postiion after sentencing. past that read or play games.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Eric: They had board games that where what you might find in a second-hand store, most of them were out of date and in poor condition. When I asked one of the guards why the games looked the way they did he told me it was because that was all we deserved. And that they came tht way!
Bonnie: Fierce competition. Usually did not have a chance to choose anything. Jail was always overcrowded and I and some of my friends had to sleep on the floor sometimes.
Jerome: COULD NEVER HEAR THE TV
Big Kim: Tv, books, yes, tv competition is feirce and leads to many fights, unless your into sports, don't get thrown into a "sports tank" if you do, tell a guard you "need a change of tank before it leads to a fight because of differences with others".usually they will move you to avoid any possible conflict..
Josh: dont go in during basketball season if you dont like it. not that you will be able to hear it anyway

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Eric: Nope that is pretty much all there is to do.Push- ups and such while your in your cell.
Bonnie: Not really. I am fat anyways, but did lots of Isometrics.
Jerome: NO
Big Kim: Nope
Josh: no i was in the kitchen so i was able to stay nice and round

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Eric: No outside!
Bonnie: Never until I got out (was released).
Jerome: EVERY TWO DAYS
Big Kim: If you can call it outside, from what I remember once a day into an inner walled "courtyard" where outside is looking up to the sky through a steel grating about 20 feet up..
Josh: daily if i wanted to. if you can call a 20x20 concrete area with chain link fence for a roof outside

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Eric: NONE! Can you believe that!
Bonnie: Church services were held in a room and only a couple people could go at once.
Jerome: YES, DIDNOT GO
Big Kim: The Church services were provided by volunteer's from a Church outside, they were generic Christian Bible study, and held in the small library room..
Josh: i think they did, but i never went
