Meals

Interview with Matthew

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Matthew: 3 meals per day.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Matthew: Terrible. Word around the jail was that the food given to inmates was actually reheated food from the prison. The breakfast sandwich was nicknamed the Copkiller. Even the guards called them that. The rumor behind the joke was that they were so hard that you could throw them at a cop and kill them.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Matthew: Hot chicken tenders were the best. Basically re-cooked boneless spicy buffalo strips. The worst had to be the sandwiches they served for lunch. Mayo on one pieces of the bread, and one piece of thin sliced lunch meat.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Matthew: Nope. None. unless you had money on your books for commissary. Then you could get candy bars, chips, cookies, hard candies, coffee, and crackers at outrageous prices.
