Medications

Interview with Cesar, Tom, Bruce and Jon

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Cesar: I would assume so. I didn't need this service. But I do remember an inmate needing meds and being given them.
Tom: YES I DID, IF I HAD A HEADACHE I WOULD SIMPLY FILL OUT A KITE, TURN THAT IN TO A DEPUTY AND WITHIN 24 HOURS A NURSE WOULD GET BACK TO ME. IF I GOT HEADACHES THAT WERE REAL BAD A SHOWER WOULD ALWAYS HELP. HOWEVER NORMALLY I WOULD GET SOMETHING FROM THE NURSE.
Bruce: yes if your on meds they made sure you got them
Jon: No I was not given the Tums for my indigestion that I asked the nurse about and she told me I could purchase them off commissary if I needed it.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Cesar: N/A
Tom: FROM THE NURSE.
Bruce: i never had meds but the nurse would make the rounds every evening with a list of who needed what and go to each cell that had someone who needed meds and make sure they got them and took them
Jon: The nurse came around at certain times through out the day and went to the cells where people had pills at and they were given them by the nurse.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Cesar: New charges
Tom: NO CHANCE TO GO TO GEIGOR
Bruce: i am not sure what they did i was never witness to any one getting caught abusing their drugs that i know of
Jon: There was never anyone who got caught for having abused drugs but I heard that if you got caught getting high you were sent to lock down.
