Cortland County Jail
54 Greenbush Street
Here is a submission from a reader about medical care in the Cortland County Jail:
I was sick while in prison, I complained of left
side abdominal pain, blood in urine, weight loss,
night sweats, extreme fatigue. I was not taken
seriously by the doctors and nurses. I was given
tylenol and told to see a doctor when i was
released, when I was released i saw a doctor and
was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma, I
was given 6 months to live.
I died April 3rd 2012, my mom is writing this to raise awareness and change laws regarding inmates availability of health care while incarcerated, If Matthew had been taken seriously he would have not been handed the death sentence by the incompetent doctors at Groveland correctional facility and he would have lived a long healthy life. He passed away in my arms after a 6 month horrible battle with cancer. He was only 32 years old.
