Meals

Interview with Tom, Oscar, Ralph, Robert and Bert

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Tom: 3
Oscar: 3 per day
Ralph: About 2.
Robert: 3 sometimes 4
Bert: 3 meals if that what you wanted to call them some days 2

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Tom: not bad when your hungry
Oscar: from 1 to 100 ill rate it a 10
Ralph: Horrible and not enough and as a vegetarian it was hard to find something suitable. Ioften went without food if there was only meat available and I became popular with the other inmates by trading my meat for other things like corn bread.
Robert: School food best answer
Bert: very bad .. we went out on detail one day in the summer ... we threw a piece of bolny and cheese on the ground and some dogs came by and wouldn't touch it . 3 weeks later we went by it again and it looked like we just put it there and it was in 100 degree weather, also the koolaid would stain the concreat

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Tom: i aate every thing with no complaints
Oscar: yeah the worst was teriyaki and one of the best ones were burritos
Ralph: I hated all of the food. nreakfast was best because I could get more things that didn't contain meat though the cereal like everything else was totally tasteless, gray and mushy.
Robert: Burritos
Bert: nope hardly ever eat any of it at all and I didn't have any that was my faviort. if I had to pic something chips?

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Tom: no
Oscar: cup cakes once a month
Ralph: None.
Robert: Yes
Bert: yes byt it was crazy high and if you missed it that week you ha to wait a nother whole week. prices were ok on some things and crazy on other things. ramen noodle soups 35 cents each
