Pre-sentencing

Interview with Gary

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Gary: It was actually pretty simple, after I was arrested I went to jail and had to wait for the judge to set my bond. I never posted bond so I had to wait till my court hearing until I could get sentenced. When my court date arrived I received time served.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Gary: I never was questioned I was sitting at home just got home from work and I decided to order pizza so instead of the pizza man showing up it was the police. They had about 15 police officers outside my apartment as if I was some crazy criminal...all I had were bad checks.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Gary: Court was kinda scary because everyone there was getting crazy sentences and I was hoping the judge would be lenient with me which of course he was, I'm guessing after all the drug addicts and violent offenders he thought my hot checks weren't nearly as bad as their crimes and gave me time served.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Gary: Theft of service was original charge then after sentencing I received issuance of a bad check
