JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Chuck: There is a somewhat gym on the 4th floor but it's
always flooded. Rec is a running joke. In the
summer you can go outside to the birdcage up there.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Chuck: It could be as far as the TV went. Outside of that
a library cart came around one day a week with old
books and you could attend church. Christian in
the AM and Catholic in the PM Sundays.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Chuck: Yes and No. You have a lot of time to do pushups
and we came up with resistance workouts using our
sheets and the desk chairs and lifting the water
jugs with our towels for curls. You can walk the
pods too.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Chuck: Never.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Chuck: They offered Christian in the AM and Catholic in
the PM Sundays. The Jehovah service was Sat mornings.
