Pre-sentencing

Interview with Lisa

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Lisa: I was at a Christmas party. I got drunk. I don't remember a thing about how I ended up to the point where I was. I got arrested for DUI about a mile down the road from the party. I was wasted. They took me directly to jail after they arrested me. I remember opening my eyes and they were shining the flashlight in my eyes. I remember taking the hour and a half drive to the jail. It took quite a while to get into a cell.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Lisa: No, I was arrested for DUI.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Lisa: I went to court the next morning. I was still drunk. The whole thing was very poor judgement on my part. I made bail. I have to pay SR-22 now. I don't even drive anymore. The judge could tell I was still wasted and so he kind of dismissed me.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Lisa: I plead guilty to DUI. My mom had to pay about $500 to bail me out.
