Leisure Time

Interview with ChiChi and Kelly

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
ChiChi: There was an exercise room, a library, we sometimes were given an hour a day when the weather was nice, or you could always work.
Kelly: Library, television, gym, basketball court, board games, cards.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
ChiChi: No everyone was given the same oppurtunity to the entertainment, there was no preferential treatment.
Kelly: No, you could pretty much do whatever.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
ChiChi: No, I had no real appetite so I lost but I guess not the healthy way.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
ChiChi: Maybe three times a week if the weather allowed.
Kelly: About 5 hours a day.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
ChiChi: Yes, but I never attended.
Kelly: Yes. I didn't attend
