Meals

Interview with Ron, Candice and Cliff

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Ron: 3 meals a day.
Candice: U get breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Cliff: 3 breakfast lunch and dinner

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Ron: It was awful. There were 3 times over that 3 months that as soon as we ate the food, about 12 guys out of 40 in the block threw up immediately and had diarrhea. One time it was some type of a macaroni/mystery meat hamburger helper type meal. I'm guessing the food was spoiled and we got food poisoning.
Candice: The food is horrible! Most people eat the food only because they have too. If you are able to get commissary then you probably won't eat the food at all.. most of the time food is cold and it has no seasoning so its just plain and nasty and I didn't like it at all
Cliff: it was o.k. it was eatable, some meals where better than some. sometime the food was cold, sometime the portions where to small, but no matter how it was it could never be as good as it was if you was at home. the best meal they could give you wouldnt matter cause you still in jail

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Ron: The spagetti and corn was probably the best meal.

Cliff: they were all o,k but i was in jail so nothing to me tasted as good as it would have if i was home

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Ron: Absolutely not. The men who were big were losing weight at dangerous amounts. They were serving the same amount to every single inmate. One guy was 6'5" 220 lbs got the same amount of food I got and I am 5'8" and 160 lbs. He constantly had hunger pains and lost about 25 lbs in a couple of months. He was not overweight to start with.

If you are able to get commissary then you probably won't eat the food at all.. most of the time food is cold and it has no seasoning so its just plain and nasty and I didn't like it at all and commissary is very expensive
Cliff: yes we had a commissary list to fill out and you were given it a couple days later. it was o.k but it was just a little to high for the price they wher asking
