Interview with Greg

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Greg: There was no presenticing .I don't know how to tell some one abought some thing that I did not have I sat in jail until my court date cause I could not afford to bail myself out when I went to trial the judge dismissed the case I had to look up self defense law myself and write down the numbers out of the law book and showed it to my publicdefender (seemed like he was gonna let me go to prison)I then told him I was going to trial and I wanted a jury was never given a jury but the judge dismissed all charges.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Greg: Stabbed a man in my front yard when he and another attacked me .I had been drinking so when the police came I ran.I was picked up 2 days later at my grandmothers.The police surrounded her house so I "went willingly".Caseyville police were rather polite when they had me in custody.County showed up in about a hour and transfered me.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Greg: Televised myself and around 20 are 30 others went to a room with a t.v. And a camera .The judge would call out your name and read your charges to you .My bail was more than I could afford so I was kept in jail till my court date 2 are 3 months later.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Greg: My original charge was attempted murder .I was never convicted
