Inmates

Interview with Ricky and Frank

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Ricky: I am homosexual so some inmates did not like it but the had a homosexual block just for gay people so I was pretty much safe and with my own people
Frank: No i didn't i found it easy to get along with everyone by keeping to myself, not sharing why i was in jail.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Ricky: i really did not have anything to do i was able to get through my time with a good celly we also had cable tv and their was only 6 or 7 other inmates on that block and the officers were very nice to us and treated us with respect
Frank: Just keep to myself, don't get into others business don't cry or show weakness others feed off of people who cry.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Ricky: i was able to choose my celly because we were doing the most time on that block and we both had jobs so we were in a work mans cell both doing more then a couple of months he was in their for murder
Frank: I got picked due to race usually each race chooses someone of their race to be cellmates. My cell mates changed every week i was there.
