Interview with Charles
JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Charles: I was out on bond twice. I was in jail for 18
months before getting transfered to Butner and
was in a holding facility in San Antonio.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Charles: They came ot my house at 7:30 in the morning with
an arrest warrent. US Marshalls and FBI. I had no
idea they were coming. They searched the house
and then took me away.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Charles: I didn't go to trial and ended up pleading
guilty. I wanted to go to trial but I couldn't
afford a lawyer and the public defender didn't
want to do the work so he kind of intimidated me
into accepting a plea cause he said I could get
up to ten years if I went to trial.
