Visitor Policy

Interview with Jen, Karen and Will

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Jen: once a week
Karen: Visits consisted of twice per week and only the people that were approved and on your visit list were allowed to come.
Will: not sure I wasn't allowed visitors

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Jen: you had to fill out a kite 3 days ahead of time and hope that they were approved, if not you sat there for months with no one
Karen: The visitors had to send in paper work with their personal information on it and then arrive early to get checked. You were not permitted to bring anything inside, including purses.
Will: I would imagine

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Jen: lttle tiny cubicile with glass and a telephone no touching no contact,no family interaction at all
Karen: The visiting environment was dismal. The visitor was on the opposite side of a glass and we had to communicate through a telephone. It was noisy and very sad when my mom would come because she would always cry and I couldn't even touch her hand to calm her down.
Will: you sit in a chair looking through glass at your visitor and talk through phones hanging next to you.
