JM: How many meals did you get per day? Wyatt: We received three meals per day. Breakfast was a
little box of cereal, a pint of milk, a pint of
OJ and 2 pieces of bread. Lunch and Dinner
varied everyday. Erica: we got to eat three times per day
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Wyatt: The food was one of the only decent parts of
being in jail. The meals were not always big in
size, but the taste was pretty good. Breakfast
was too small and boring, but the lunches and
dinners could be good. It was better or as good
as most other prisons I have been in. Erica: the food was aweful. I had never seen anything
like it. I only ate it because I was starving
there was just giant wads of meat. and sandwiched
with slimy gross meat and a lot of food that
looked like something I would feed my dog or cat.
it was horrible.
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Wyatt: My least favorite meal was breakfast because it
was small, and they gave us the same thing
everyday. My favorite meal was pizza. We would
get 2 round Tonys pizza for lunch or dinner. It
was everyones favorite day, pizza day. Erica: no all the food was disgusting. I could hardly
eat any of it and I don't want to think about it
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Wyatt: Yes, you could buy other snacks from commissary
once each week. They offered things like ramen
noodles, candy, chips, etc. Butler had some of
the most expensive commissary I have seen in
both County and State prison. For example, ramen
noodles were almost a dollar a piece. Erica: there was commissary it was expensive and I
couldn't really afford it. other women got
commissary a lot. there were no free snacks
unless you were pregnant or diabetic and those
snacks were gross too.
