JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Craig: I was booked into jail and put into the "padded"
room because I was suicidal. I spent a total of 4
days in the padded cell. On the 2nd day I saw the
jail psychologist. On the 4th day I was taken
before the judge and was sentenced to 90 days in
jail.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Craig: I was arrested because I was suicidal and bought a
gun to kill myself. I wrote a suicidal note and
gave it to my parents. They then called the police
and I locked myself in my bedroom with the gun in
my hand. The cops came and slowly talked me out of
suicide. The standoff last about 1 hour. I finally
gave up my gun and then cops took me to the
hospital because I had cut my finger. I was then
arrested at the hospital and taken the the jail.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Craig: I was very confused as to what was happening in
court. I didn't really understand why I was being
held. When the judge called my name, I stood up
and approached the bench. My parents came and
stood beside me. I remember my parents telling the
judge that they wanted me to get some "mental"
help and to see a psychologist and get on some
medicine. Then judge sentenced me to 90 days and I
was taken to the back room and put in a holding
cell.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Craig: Original charge was domestic violence and I was
convicted of that.
