Inmates

Interview with Ellen

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Ellen: I mostly kept to myself. But there was one that just thought she was going to try and be a bully. I kept walking away I tried not to bump heads with anyone since I was pregnant.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Ellen: I walked away, I asked to be put on another floor, and they refused too. They said since I was pregnant I had to just try and stay put. I have a temper that I was not trying to bring out! It was getting more and more impossible to keep my temper under control

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Ellen: I was never allowed to choose my cellmates. I had quite a few cell mates in the time I was there. Some where mean and some where actually manageable to stay with!
