Closing Advice

Interview with nelson and Amy

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
nelson: not sure, i never had any loved ones, I guess that would make it hard. i dunno, cheer up.
Amy: That it's not like woman are fighting or the deputies are mean or inhumane. Stay positive and know it's not forever. Don't get on the poor me train with the inmate because it just reinforces the oppression the already feel. Keep them posted on up to date life events so they feel connected. and by all means show up at the court dates even though we aren't suppose to look at our family members knowing they are there adds a positive supportive element.

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
nelson: if your going to marin county jail, enjoy your stay.
Amy: Get along- realize that the deputies are just people doing their jobs and even though it feels like the end it's just a going through process, read, think, realize that you don't have to do this again. Try and laugh a little cry a little everyday keep you human and don't eat from the commissary.

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Amy: Rehabs for alcoholism, Serenity Knolls, Marin Services for Woman and out patient at Center Point in Marin.
