Leisure Time

Interview with Tim

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Tim: No books. There is TV that is on almost all the time. You can buy playing cards. Sometimes there were basketballs and footballs in the yard, but not always.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Tim: Whoever has been there the longest will watch what they want to watch on TV.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Tim: Not really, just because there are so many people that are so energetic and want to work out all the time. I got peer pressured to work out all the time. Push ups, sit ups, wrestling, weight lifting with water bags.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Tim: I think they just changed it. When I was there it was every day for an hour. Now I heard that they have changed it to an hour every 3 days.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Tim: If you write a request to the chaplain he will come in and talk to you. There are no formal church services or bible study or anything like that.
