Telephones

Interview with Darcy

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Darcy: There are phones on all the tanks, you can use them if you have money on your books or are able to make a collect call. They were available to you unless you were locked down.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Darcy: $5.00 for 15 minutes, depends on how much money is on your books or if there is someone to call that will accept your collect call.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Darcy: I did on commissary when I did not have money on the phone.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Darcy: Yes they randomly screened all calls
