Leisure Time

Interview with Allie

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Allie: Nothing. They don't allow books, cards, games. Nothing but TV.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Allie: Usually there is one person that controls the TV. Whoever is the meanest.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Allie: I wasn't there very long but I could see that there isn't a lot of space for walking. I don't believe they go outside or anything.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Allie: I didn't. I have heard the men go outside, but the women don't.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Allie: I don't believe they offer church services. I never heard of them coming. Some of the girls in there did have bibles so they may have.
