Pre-sentencing

Interview with Hakstiff and Rebecca

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Hakstiff: I WENT TO COURT & TOOK A PLEA AGRREMENT THAT WAS OFFERED TO ME & WAS SENTENCED TO PRISON TIME
Rebecca: I got into an argument with an officer at the precint about a report I was making. He wasn't taking me seriously and was being very sarcastic. The argument got physical. He and another officer pinned me down, put me in handcuffs, and escorted me into a holding cell that smelled horrible.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Hakstiff: YES I HAD THE SECRET SERVICE AND PROSECUTORS COME TO MY HOUSE TO ARREST ME
Rebecca: No. I had gotten into an argument with my partner at the time. She called the cops on me and ran for safety because she knew she would be in trouble for laying her hands on me, after she called 911. The cops came and took me to the police station to file a report. That was when I started arguing with the officer.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Hakstiff: IT'S YOU STANDING THERE IN FRONT OF THE JUDGE BARELY ABLE TO SAY ANYTHING (NOT BARELY)I MEAN NOT BEING ABLE TO SAY ANYTHING WHILE THE PROSECUTOR PAINT THIS HORRIBLE PICTURE OF YOU WHILE THE JURY OR THE JUDGE LOOKS @ YOU LIKE YOU'RE A MONSTER
Rebecca: The officer did not show up the first two times. I kept going back to court and waiting for his appearance just to do it all over again. The third visit, he did not show up. In other words, he had dropped the charges and I had to pay a fine.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Hakstiff: CDS W/ INTENT OT DISTR., MANUFACTURING(DISMISSED) CONSPIRACY(DISMISED)
Rebecca: I was arrested for assaulting an officer. I have a clean record.
