Medications

Interview with Helen and Leon

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Helen: Medications were available but I didn't have any to take.
Leon: Yes, they give out meds twice a day.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Helen: If you had to take medication, you were handed it by a corrections officer. You had to see the nurse when you first came in and tell her what you were taking.
Leon: The nurse brings them on a cart to the block and you line up at the door.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Helen: I'm not sure what the types of punishments were for the abuse of drugs. I never witnessed this for the time I was there.
Leon: No one had drugs while I was there, but you get charged with possession and put in solitary confinement for who knows how long...
