Inmates

Interview with Mike

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Mike: Sometimes it was hard because they all talk alot of shit. think they are all big and bad. but you try and do your time and not let em bother you so you can succeed in the jail. Become a model Inmate and become a trustee and not lose your goodtime. in small jails like madison county i knew alot of people in there because we live in small towns so coulda been worse i guess.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Mike: let people talk crap to avoid losing good time. had a few run ins where it was hard to shut my mouth but never had any physical altercatiions.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Mike: I was in a pod of 20 people. and then got moved for spitting in another inmates face and had my own cell. we dont really have cell mates. i was also moved to a 6 man pod where we all have bunks and no cells just a big locked room
