JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Sheila: There was not much to do to pass the time you had
to find things your self they had books you could
read and there were was special groups and
meetings you could attend playing cards was the
favorite pastime activity there was some yard
time but it was limited
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Sheila: There was no regular access to entertainment the
most competition was to find the best hairdresser
for to do your hair in the best hair style so you
can change your look and start to feel better
about your situation even though on one other
than inmates would be able to see you.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Sheila: Yes I gained a lot of weight which I need to do
and since I did not do much exercise my stomach
became big
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Sheila: I believe we were able to go to the yard at least
three times a week at different times of the day
related to which day it was
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Sheila: Yes, there was church service for many
denominations of church services and I was a
great spiritual experience while being in jail
