Interview with Charles
JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Charles: They had a rec yard with a track, softball field,
basketball court, some exercise equipment. There
was a little library and educational courses.
Also had a TV room.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Charles: You got regular access whenever you wanted.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Charles: Actually no because you have more opportunity to
walk around and exercise then you do on the
outside.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Charles: Every day.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Charles: Church was on Sunday, just once a week. They had
a chapel. The services were more baptist
oriented.
