JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Traci: You could read books. You could order crosswords,
wordsearch. Your family could bring in books,
drawing penicls. There was also playing cards but
no TV. Mama: Bathroom breaks. That's it. Unless you got to go "outside"
which was a cement room with a gate ceiling.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Traci: It was all pretty much available when we wanted
it. Mama: No source of entertainment. Unless you played cards,
or.bought a coloring book or sketch pad.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Traci: Yeah cause there is nothing to do so all you want
to do is lay in bed and sleep. Mama: In 15 days I lost 8lbs. But one person gained 30 in 45 days
cause the food is so unhealthy.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Traci: When I was there the first time we got to go out
because they brought a guy in to fix the toilets.
Other then that you would go out if the guards
felt like it. Mama: Rare.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Traci: They had different ladies from different
churches. They would come in on Sunday morning
and one came in on Sunday evening. They held it
downstairs in a room just inside our block. Mama: Church services consisted of people coming in and talking to
you for an hour except on sunday was 2/ 3hos.
