Interview with Katie
JM: How many different blocks were there?
Katie: in county jail the women only have 1 block
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Katie: no names are given in the county jail...only the
prison
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Katie: We had everyone housed together and the juveniles
that were there were kept in a single man cell. But
the charges ranged from drunk driving to child
molesters to murder and everything in between
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Katie: We didn't have different blocks but the shifts and
the guards varied and that made all the difference
in the world to me. Also the ministers who would
come and speak to us made a very big difference to
those who wanted to attend. If you didn't want to
attend you didn't have to.
