Inmates

Interview with Rachel

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Rachel: yes, their were so many women in one large area. I really had a hard time sleeping because people were up and about at all times and many didn't care if it was morning or night and were very loud. very inconsiderate.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Rachel: make sure not to stare at anyone, don't let your blanket hang down over to the lower bunk, and its harder than you might think. just keep to myself, did what i was to do and just tried to not get in any ones way and kept quiet. didn't bring attention to myself.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Rachel: I was in a dorm with about 25 other women. people would come and go at all different hours of the day and night. If their was an open bunk, you could take it.
