JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Danny: none really, you had a day room that you could
go to to watch tv, or if someone had cards, you
could play games, read books, or the newspaper.
they did give you about an hr everyday to go to
the rec. yard, or gym, if you wanted to do that.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Danny: the only real entertainment was the small 13" tv
that was way up on a wall, there was no access
to it, except by remote control, which was
always in the gaurds control. if it was agrred
apon, they would switch the channels on the tv.
otherwise the only entertainment was what you
made of either playing cards or checkers or
chess, or if you were lucky enough to have one
of the overly priced radios, you could do that
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Danny: yes, i was not willing to go to rec, because
they would take several blocks at a time, and i
didnt want to get into any confrintations
because of my crime
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Danny: they would allow you to go outside, weather
permitting everyday for about an hr. if it wasnt
good out side you were them able to go to the
gym, and play basket ball.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Danny: yes the jail did offer church services. i did
not go to them, but i understand from those that
did, that it was mulifaith based.
