Inmates

Interview with Roger

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Roger: It depends on the people in there with you. I was a county inmate and there were a lot of state inmates in there that I got long with better than the county inmates. You just have to be careful who you talk to and what about.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Roger: I never really had a problem with other inmates. It was like high school all over. There were different cliques. You just have to know the people in there and what not to say around certain people. Keep a couple people close incase you need someone but mostly just stick to yourself.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Roger: Yeah you were. They only changed if they moved blocks, got in trouble, or went home. Most of the time you have the same celly for awhile so you get to know them pretty well.
