Pre-sentencing

Interview with Barry

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Barry: It took more than a year from the time of my crime untill i was sentenced. My lawyer went back and forth with the DA working on a deal wich i would assume is commen of all or most people so i would say it was an average experience other than taking forever

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Barry: I turned around at a DUI checkpoint and did not fallow all traffic laws and was pulled over. I was given a field sobriaty test then a field breathalizer then another field sobriaty test then another breathalzer. I was on the side of the road for an hour and when asked what i blew in the brethalizer to be put under arrest i was told "i dont have to tell you that"

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Barry: Court was a very small and informal process. pretty much just get inline and wait your turn. dont recall many details other than the man that came in from the jail for a hearing obout child support and the kid in front of me that got less of a sentince for beating his pregnant wife than i did for drinking six beers.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Barry: DUI, reckless driving and turning off headlights to avoid arrest. I was convicted of dui and falure to use turn signals (best as i can remember)
