JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process: Keith: I was set a bail price which I could not pay so I stayed in the
prison until my sentencing which I waited almost 4 months. I
had one preliminary court date pushed back and then went to
my second preliminary court date which was actually on my
birthday. The time from my actual preliminary until sentencing
was about a month and a half.
JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested. Keith: I was pulled over by the Bethlehem police department
because the smelled marijuana coming from my car. They
asked to search my car and when I replied that they could not
they said they would take my car and get a warrant. The
officers then proceeded to pull my passengers and myself out
of the vehicle and placed us all under arrest and impounded
my vehicle.
JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall. Keith: My preliminary was very short as I waived my rights to have a
preliminary meaning I basically admit that there was enough
evidence to be found guilty of my charges. My sentencing was
very standard as I was pleading guilty to my charges. The
judge asked me a lot of questions to make sure I understood
everything. And the I was sentenced to time served for release
that day.
JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of? Keith: I was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon without a
permit.
