JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Garrett: Yes.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Garrett: I'm not sure. You could put money on your phone
account if you had money on your books, and I
didn't have money.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Garrett: You have to put money on your phone account and
then you get a PIN # to use to call out. People
tried to steal each others pins and this was a
cause of a lot of problems.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Garrett: Yes they screen every call.
