JM: Which jail did you visit?
Ashley: Bastrop County Jail

JM: How long ago was your visit?
Ashley: Tuesday night on May the 17th 2011.

JM: How many times did you visit?
Ashley: Just once so far but will be going back for several more vists.

JM: How do you go about making an appointment to see an inmate?
Ashley: I called the jail first to make sure that I was on my boyfriends visit lists since the inmates have to put you on there if they want to see you. I went up there an hour before they opened the doors so that I made sure I got to see him. They then take your drivers license to make sure you are on the inmates visit lists and then about 30 minutes later you are able to go and see the inmate.

JM: How long did check-in process take?
Ashley: It took about an hour long before I got to see my boyfriend.

JM: Were the guards accommodating?
Ashley: Yes they were awesome!

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Ashley: It was loud but I was able to block it out and hear what my boyfriend had to say.

JM: How long was your visit? Did the guards ever allow you to take extra time?
Ashley: The visit seemed short but I do believe we were there for thirty minutes. No not yet but I have only been up there once so far.

JM: What was the parking situation like?
Ashley: Great the parking lot was empty so I got to park where I wanted.

JM: What advice would you offer to somebody who is going to visit an inmate in this jail?
Ashley: Just to make sure that the inmate they are seeing keeps their head up and make sure you let that person know that you are here for them. I believe doing time without someone caring must be the hardest part.
