Interview with Raymond
JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Raymond: They had a blue phone but you had to set up a
land line on the outside to make a call and that
cost about a hundred bucks.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Raymond: Just for collect calls but I don't know how much
that is.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Raymond: You could buy a ten dollar calling card from the
commissary for 40 minutes.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Raymond: Yeah, they tell you on phone. Mail is screened
too.
